Meissen

After Torgau, the Viking Astrild took us to Meissen, home of the world famous porcelain.
This pelican greats you as you enter.
Too expensive to be called 'nic nacks'
Our tour of the factory including rooms of artists painting porcelain
The artists also showed how the clay was moulded
The logo comes from the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Saxony (not the Free State of Saxony, which is modern).
Then we went on a walking tour
The walking tour took us to the top of Meissen, where the cathedral is located
And it is up there!
At the top there is a pub and a church, too
This cathedral can be seen for miles
upper view of the top
Then we walked down to the village and looked back up to where we were
This video shows the Elbe River and a tug and barge on it.
And after walkabout, a beer at the Ratskeller Pub/Restaurant
